The Charleston School of Law seeks applicants for the position of Legal Research, Analysis, & Writing ("LRAW") Adjunct Professor. LRAW adjunct professors are assigned to teach our required 3-credit-hour LRAW courses, which simulate various aspects of law practice. The subjects taught include legal analysis and reasoning, legal research sources and strategy, predictive and persuasive legal writing, citation format, oral presentations, advocacy, and other lawyering skills. LRAW adjunct professors provide extensive critique of their students' research and writing projects and meet with students in individual conferences outside of class time. LRAW adjunct professors also hold weekly office hours to address general questions and concerns. All LRAW professors work collaboratively with each other and with the director, who is responsible for the overall design, direction, and staffing of the program. All adjuncts are expected to attend training sessions and planning meetings and contribute ideas to improve skills instruction. Salary is $3000 per semester. Applicants must have a J.D. degree with strong academic credentials and at least three years of law practice experience. Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and collegially as part of a team.
